About Ghana Union Assurance:
GUA started as an insurance division of UAC (now Unilever) when Northern Assurance Company of Britain appointed UAC as its chief insurance agent.
In 1962 It ceded its life business to the Crusader Insurance Company. Then in 1972 changes in share ownership led to a name change from Northern Assurance Company Limited to Commercial Union Assurance Company of Ghana Limited. Again in 1976 further changes in ownership led to another name change from Commercial Union Assurance Company of Ghana Limited to Ghana Union Assurance Company Limited and the name has been maintained to date.
