Company Profile and Project Description
Based at Wa and Gwollu in the Upper West Region of Ghana, the project is toward the processing of shea nuts into fats, groundnuts, sunflower and sesame seeds into high grade cooking oil products for sale in Ghana, West Africa and the broader export market. The project‟s overall estimated output is 50mt every 24hours.
The project is an offspring of the Promoters‟ efforts, since 2005, to develop farmer-based organisations in the nine districts of the Upper West Region in the establishment of new shea nut and groundnut farms and the maintenance of old ones. The project seeks to exploit product and market development opportunities by developing unique and organic products for specific segments within the local and export markets. Ghana currently imports an estimated USD2million worth of sunflower oil annually. Most imported cooking oils do not have any major product differentiation in quality and taste to justify the current dependence on them.
The project has already acquired the land for the construction of a factory for the production of proposed products. Using a worst case scenario the project anticipates making a Net Profit of GHC2.9million in year 1 increasing to GHC6.3million year 5.
